When you think of Valentine’s Day, you probably picture red roses, chocolates, and candlelit dinners. And, of course, a flood of romantic proposals, right? Well, here’s a little plot twist – only a tiny percentage of people actually pop the question on Love Day!
So, if you’ve been holding back on a Valentine’s Day proposal because you think it’s too obvious – think again! With the world already draped in romance, what better time to make your grand gesture? That’s exactly what Graham thought when he planned the perfect Valentine’s proposal for his long-term love, Poppy. And trust us, it was one for the books!
After eight years together, Graham knew exactly what Poppy would love. She’s incredibly close to her family and friends, so he wanted them to be part of the big moment. For the setting, he picked a cosy events hall at a nearby country park and used candles, fairy lights, and rose petals to bring the space to life.
As Graham led Poppy into the softly glowing room, she gasped. Her heart raced as she took in the sight of her nearest and dearest, all eagerly waiting for what was about to unfold. With emotions running high, Graham launched into a heartfelt speech before dropping to one knee.
Cue the collective intake of breath.
Cue Poppy’s eyes brimming with tears.
Cue the ecstatic “YES!” that sent the room into a frenzy of cheers and applause!
Of course, no proposal is complete without a feast to match, and that’s where we, Hog Roast Elswick, came in! As soon as the celebrations kicked off, guests spilled outside to the open-air dining area, where a sizzling BBQ spread awaited.
Hog Roast Elswick served up juicy handmade beef burgers, perfectly grilled sausages, chicken kebabs, and finger-lickin’ spareribs. For the plant-based foodies, we had BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls and tasty veggie burgers, plus a vibrant selection of salads and crispy mixed fries.
With full hearts (and even fuller stomachs), Poppy and Graham soaked in the love and laughter, surrounded by their favourite people. It was the perfect start to their next chapter, and proof that Valentine’s Day proposals are anything but cliché when done right!
